The New Year, New Decade, and New Astrological Era, is Truly Bringing More than Anyone Expected
When the San Francisco Astrological Society named the Spring Equinox International Astrology Day online workshop "The Big Shift," I'm not aware of any of us that visualized an impact as wide and intense as the Coronavirus - COVID-19 becoming a global pandemic. I'll be including more about this topic of global concern during this newsletter, however we are in a form of "Survival Mode" and it could be seen as a first for us in our lifetimes and historically one of the most significant and challenging events in human history. This is not a typical flu virus; we are still in the beginning stages of this intruder, and we have a great deal yet to learn.
I hope that each one of you, your partners, families, and friends are doing all that you can to be safe. I know you've heard it all before but the importance of observing physical distancing, washing hands after being out and about, and wearing a mask, especially in indoor, confined areas, are really important in this "new age" of our times.
Astrologically, the December 25, 2019 Christmas Solar eclipse and January 10, 2020 Lunar eclipse were important factors in setting the energy flow for a major breakthrough into the new decade. The Sun, Saturn, Pluto conjunction of January 12, 2020 further solidified the energies and future impacts. Remember, eclipses are part of a series representing the end and beginning of long planetary eras in time, potentially hundreds and even thousands of years.
Even though I love discussing astrology, it's so important to point out that astrology is not an "exact science" and cannot predict everything. It's especially important during a time like this to listen to the voices within and receive input from our "intuition". Many of us are having more time than usual to be within. Even though there are common parallels, each of us is being affected in our own unique ways. As a result, the physical, mental, emotional, financial, and spiritual effects are also very personal. There are potentially many different types of disasters. This one is very unusual because of its invisibility, unpredictability, and capability of causing extreme illness and even death.

An Astrological View of the Coronavirus
From my own astrological viewpoint, the time period that we've entered during January 2020 has its roots that go back much further than this current time period. In terms of the alleged origin, whether the COVID-19 originated from a bat bite or a lab in Wuhan, China, the primary focus now is on personal care and prevention, testing for the virus (for who qualify and where it's available), testing for autoimmunity, and research being done on a vaccine that will allow people to hopefully become immune to COVID-19.
Understanding where this virus came from is important, but at this point, it's not the first and foremost action to take. A Ph.D. microbiologist that I worked with is certain that this did not come from a lab because the sequencing of the basic cells is different than seen in any functioning labs before. There has been regular correspondence and exchange of information between the U.S. and Chinese labs in the past, but the final conclusion of course is missing.
This does not appear to be a "short-term" phase. This year, Saturn makes several close conjunctions with Pluto, the first being January 12, 2020. With Saturn emphasizing hard work, responsibility, heavy conditions, and the potential for low resistance and illness, and Pluto focusing on viruses, research, hidden conditions, and transformation, we have our share of challenges evolving over a period of time. This is not a "typical flu strain" and will not be over within a few months unless some kind of miracle appears. Saturn tests our endurance and Pluto makes us dig until we're "blue in the face". Our patience and endurance is being tested. There is oddity in the air though as some very strong military people and normally healthy medical staff have contracted this virus and become seriously ill or died while others have been asymptomatic or displayed only very mild, almost unnoticeable symptoms.

A New Look - My Newly Rebuilt Website
Well, after spending hours and hours taking a few courses in website building via Word Press and Dreamweaver since 2019, I finally rebuilt my own website using the Dreamweaver program. It has been a very challenging and time-consuming experience for me, however, it has allowed me the opportunity to learn a lot and be creative and I am so happy with the results!
For those who can relate, I'm still modifying my "Explorative Communications Insights Newsletter" page but the website will continue to evolve and improve. You may enjoy viewing it at "explorativecommunications.com".

Current Astrological Influences
There are lots of things going on during May and some of then exemplify "opposites". We've been seeing a nice trine indicating smooth flow between Sun and Jupiter followed by Sun and Saturn. If one has been motivated and the environment has been conducive, this has been an ideal time for productive work and success. On top of this, we've just opened a new door with the the New Moon at 2 degrees Gemini Friday morning, May 22nd.....a time for new beginnings within what is an unusual period as the Jupiter - Saturn - Pluto conjunction activity continues.
Meanwhile, there is a quincunx underway between Mercury and Pluto which will repeat again during and after Mercury's retrograde cycle which begins June 17th. Interestingly, this could be a very valuable time for research and intellectual breakthroughs since certain details may be found that were invisible before. Venus has just turned retrograde and is closely square Neptune which challenges our relationship harmony and balance, our financial judgment, and our very values. When Venus is seen moving forward later, it'll square Neptune directly. This is one of many "repeats" that we'll be seeing due to the current array of multiple planets turning retrograde these days.
Speaking of "Retrograde", I see this as an opportunity. With all of my 12th house planets, I tend to go within a lot anyway so providing I have home and security, income, health, food, and an opportunity to exercise out in nature, I'm alright. However, I recognize this has been very difficult for many people and I feel and pray for their well being. With each planet, there are ways of revisiting and reassessing. It's like a chance to edit and redo some things we may want to change. With Mercury, it applies to our mental thinking; for Venus, our relationships, financial actions, and values; for Saturn, our chance to rebuild, reconstruct, and strengthen; for Jupiter, our chance to study, educate, revise our philosophies and make travel plans; for Pluto, our opportunities to expand our research, investigations, and to transform our darker perceptions into more positive ones. In each case, it's an opportunity for growth.

Saturn - May 11 - Sept. 29, 2020 - Early Aquarius - Late Capricorn
Venus - May 12 - June 25, 2020 - Solely in Gemini
Jupiter - May 14 - Sept. 12, 2020 - Solely in Capricorn
The effects of these retrogrades depend on your own individual astrological charts and current life issues.

Making our Own Decisions and Resisting Mass Confusion
As you know, our own president is often at odds with environmental groups, scientists, and occasionally with representatives of his own party. In my perception, Donald Trump invented the term "Fake News." While he often contradicts what the Center for Disease Control is advising including opening our country back up again, gathering in churches this Memorial Day weekend, and having a great time, I'd love to see that happen! However, given that I've learned that I can't trust anything he says to be "Gospel," I'm highly concerned about his setting an example as a leader for the American people. As many people as he encounters each day without wearing a mask, regardless of being tested, it portrays a kind of "macho image" that appeals to quite a % of our population. It feels potentially like the slow and gradual "Sinking of the Titanic" where many people inside never even saw the iceberg. This is not a " political party" issue but one of science and common sense. It's not a time to trust our leader(s) but to trust our own intuition. We must do what feels safe for us. Each one of us is valued and I wish you the best in safety and care.
